If you thought "The Walking Dead" was, well, dead after the conclusion of the original series in 2022, you'd certainly be wrong.
Five spinoff shows have run as part of what became the "Walking Dead" franchise. Now, a sixth spinoff is on the horizon, and the world of zombies and survivors will get a bit of what the creators call the "Bridgerton" treatment: a heavy focus on an "epic love narrative" amidst the chaos and destruction of the post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies.
Here's what we know about the upcoming premiere of "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live".
Blame 'Bridgerton':Why the latest 'Walking Dead' spinoff is an 'epic love story'
When does 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' premiere?
"The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" series premiere is set for Sunday, Feb. 25 at 9 p.m. EST/PST.
Where to watch 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live'
"The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" will air on AMC and AMC+. Plans for the streaming service start at $4.99 a month.
What is 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' about?
"The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" follows the love story and (hopeful) reunion between Rick Grimes and Michonne, a pair of leading characters who fell in love during the original series but were separated when actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Grimes, left the show in 2018.
Rick, who had married Michonne (as much as you can get married in the zombie apocalypse, anyway) was presumed dead after blowing up a bridge in Season 9, but when it came time for Danai Gurira, the actress playing Michonne, to leave the show the following season, her character set off in search of her husband after getting word he had actually survived.
The new limited series is set to pick up from there and follow the great lengths and grueling journeys the pair are willing to endure to reunite.
